Boat Rides in Japan

My son and I went to a little island off the coast of Fukuoka the other day. I used to work on this island teaching elementary and JHS students, so I am very familiar with the place. It`s called Himeshima, there is a more popular "Himeshima" elsewhere so don`t get confused. This island is just a small fishing village, basically. Hope you enjoy the video. Some of you might be asked to work in small schools like this one. I had a blast working there!

Eikaiwa Text Books

Was going through my stack of English Books and I thought I would snap a picture of the "usual suspects" that you might have to use if you teach in Japan.  I keep these around for private lessons and sometimes to get ideas about examples for my JHS classes.  

Pocket Warmers - "Kairo"

Staying warm in Japanese classrooms is really difficult seeing as there is no heat, no insulation, and really big windows.  One of the ways ALT`s (Assistant Language Teachers), JTE`s, and students stay warm is with these little things.  They are called "Kairo" カイロ or basically pocket warmers.  Luckily they are really cheap and available everywhere.  

Lock The Windows!!

Recently at my school they have been installing brackets on the siding windows. Not on both sides so we cant escape, just on one side. I am not sure of the actual reason, but my guess is to keep kids from messing around with the windows.
